Yes, education is a basic need for the survival of a human being. It is as important as air, food and housing for both men and women.
It is said that “if we educate a man, we educate only one person, but if we educate a woman, we educate the whole family”.
Debate on Girl Education will make you realize how important it is to educate a woman.
A nation can be educated in the real sense, only when its entire population is educated. Women’s education plays a major role in the social and economic development of a country.
Women’s education is very important because a mother is the first teacher of their children. A child receives the very first lessons in her lap. Hence, if mothers are educated, they can perfectly mold their children into better human beings. But in this male-dominated nation, people think that men’s contribution to society is more than women’s. Girls in India are often considered as a burden on parents by some people. The thinking of some parents goes like girls have to just cook, clean and raise children then why should we invest much on them after all they will get married and sent to another house. Many people believe that a girl is a ‘paraya dhan’ and money would be needed during her marriage to be given as dowry. Thus, investing the money for her education will be of no use for them. While boys are considered the legal heirs of the family so investing in their best education would be beneficial for them in the future.
Things have turned so bad that some of the girls are killed before birth in the mother’s womb itself due to the stress of their marriage expenses in the future. The poor girl child has to always face ignorance.
Debate on Girl education points out that girls education is not given much importance in many parts of India, because of the reasons like dowry, child marriage, caste system and purdah system prevalent in the society. People do not realize that educating a girl is equally important as the boys. Whenever a girl is given the opportunity to prove her abilities, she has always proven herself.
Some people in India believe that for a girl it is more important to become a genius in household work than getting an education. This forces the girl to focus on the household work which keeps them deprived of education.
One person cannot be blamed for this type of mentality but the entire society is responsible for the fate of the girls.
In my Debate on Girl Education, I also want to highlight that a million girls every year are married before they are eighteen. Many are forced to marry by their families because of traditional practices of dowry. Education is one of the most powerful tools to enable girls to avoid child marriage and fulfill their dreams. The longer a girl stays in school, the less likely she is to get married before the age and have children during her teenage years.
An educated mother will always encourage her children’s educational success. An educated mother has proper health knowledge ensuring her children receive the proper vaccines for their health and provide healthy meals that are nutritionally beneficial. Educated women also contribute to population control. They are less likely to be a victim of domestic abuse. An educated woman has great confidence and enables her to make the right decisions. All this contributes in a positive way to the society and development of a nation.
Through my Debate on Girl Education, I assure you that the educated girl can successfully manage any kind of responsibility. See the examples, Kalpana Chawla, Kiran Bedi, Sonia Gandhi and so on. Everyone has earned a name and fame for our country.
In my research for Debate on Girl Education, I learned that according to some people, women’s responsibilities should be limited to “kitchen, kids, and church” is really wrong. While raising children and taking care of a family is important, if a young woman chooses to pursue her studies, she should be able to do that, too. Even if she gets an education and then ends up staying home as a mom, that education will not be wasted as it will be beneficial for her children.
Women are sharing equal responsibility as compared to men in every field of society.
She is the most crucial and revered entity. Debate on Girl Education proves that Women must be given all the necessary education. Ignoring her or keeping her illiterate means we are creating an illiterate generation. So, it is perfectly true that educating a girl child means educating a family in turn society.
