Today my friend, the Homeo doctor told me about some strange experience in his life that happened last summer. He lived in a rented room which was not electrified. He was sitting in his room. Suddenly he heard a dull thud sound as if a rubber tube had fallen on to the ground. Suddenly he realized that it was a snake. It was sitting on his chair near his shoulder.

He was frozen. He couldn’t move from there. He sat there like a stone image. The snake slithered from the chair on to his left arm. He sat breathless. Sud denly the snake turned its head. It saw its own image in the mirror. Perhapes it was staring its own beauty. Then it moved towards the mirror as if to have a closer look. Without wasting a second the doctor got out and ran to his freind’s house. He smeared oil all over his body and had a bath. On the next day, he went back to his room with his friend and two others for shifting his belongings. But he couldn’t find any of his belongings there.

Answer 23.
Valuable Investment
The word investment gives different ideas to different people. But it is generally associated with money and the return gained in terms of money. The story of Mr. John reminds us of the idea that investment is not merely in terms of money. It can indicate the values that we imbibe in our lives would remain as the best investment forever.

It was on the second day of the narrator A.J Cronin’s voyage, he noticed that one of the passengers was watching him closely. As he was not interested in a conversation with the passenger at that time, the narrator ignored him. The following afternoon the narrator saw him again along with his wife. They approached the narrator and introduced themselves as Mr. and Mrs. John. But the narrator couldn’t reveal the identity of the fellow voyagers. Mr. John told the narrator that he was a solicitor by profession and was the director of a charitable organisation devoted to the rehabilitation of derelict adolescents.

They had been on their first visit to America. Curiously the narrator enquired why he was attracted to social work. Mr. John reminded the narrator that he was none other than the young man whose life the doctor had saved. He was an orphan and worked as a clerk in a solicitor’s office in London. As he was friendless he joined the company of bad people and lost all his savings betting on horses. He took a sum of money from the office safe for a final gamble.

But his last resort failed. Terrified of the prosecution that must follow he tried to commit suicide. But the timely intervention of the doctor, landlady and sergeant saved Mr. John. The doctor came forward with his minor contribution of seven pounds and ten shillings to put back the money in the office safe. The sergeant promised to make no report of the case.

The land lady offered him a months free board. Recollecting those incidents, the narrator felt that it was the finest act he ever done or it was the best investment he had ever made. Hence the title ‘ The Best Investment I Ever Made’ is suitable for the story.

Answer 24.
Monday, 4th May
My goodness, what a horrible day was it! I can see the snake now also. Where did it come from! I have to shift the house and must move to some other safer place. The rent for the new room! Where can I have it? Let us hope that more patients will come and I may get more money. Was it dream? or Was it a real snake? It was looking at the mirror enjoying its serpent beauty. It may also be a bachelor like me expecting to enhance its beauty. If the snake could pay a share for the room rent there is no harm in permitting it to stay with me and use my mirror till I get a permanent life partner.

Dear Doctor,

How are you? Hope everything is fine. The day I met you was the most memorable day in my life. How happy I was that day. You are the real God that appeared before me in human form. If I hadn’t met you my life would have been a hell. I was sad at first because you didn’t recognise me but later when you spoke to me my sadness changed to happiness. I wish I could meet the landlady and sergeant who helped me. Inspite of the risks involved they were ready to help me. If you hadn’t helped me that day I would have been dead.

After that incident, I became a man who loved charity and sacrificed my belongings for orphan kids. What I learnt in life is that the best investments in life are the good relationships we build and maintain and those are priceless. Thank you so much doctor. You gave me a second chance in life.
Wish we could meet again.
I hope that you will contact me when you receive this letter.
Yours lovingly
John.S

Unity is a strength is a good old famous proverb. In the case of making films, it gains another momentum. A film or cinema is every meaning a group venture where all types people put their head together for a single goal the success. Of course, Director plays a pivotal role but the contributions other faculties cannot be neglected.

Once the script writer completes his work after the discussion with the director the film gets its beginning. The cameraman and the artists realizes it is visually possible. To make an artist a character the role played by the make up artist is great and the costume designer’s role also adds to it. The light boys and the assistants work for the visual perfection, in the case of the Sathyajith Ray’s film shooting scene we come across the hardship they faced to shoot a simple scene where a tiger simply moves in front of the camera. As a whole, we can say that it is the different thoughts and brains make a piece of, art wonderful. One can create wonders but many can create miracles.

Books: The greatest Invention of Man
A very warm welcome to all present here. Today I am here to speak on the topic ‘Books – The greatest Invention of Man’ First of all what is a book? A book is the map of man’s life and the life in nature. Every page of a great book is a store house of man’s best and noblest thoughts. We can say that Books are the greatest invention of man. Books are wonderful gifts to mankind.

Books are useful in many ways. They educate, entertain and serve as good companions when we are lonely. They guide us when we are confused. Books console us when we are in sorrow. We are never alone in the company of books. They demand nothing for the service they do to mankind.

Books help to widen our interest. They broaden our outlook. They enrich our thoughts. They help us in understanding different aspects of life. They give us the inspiration to do great things in life. They encourage us to fight odds of life bravely. They mould our characters. But we should be very cautious in the choice of books.

We can conclude by saying that books are a blessing. They are the treasures richer than treasures of the King. They are the gold mines of art, literature, science and information. We should develop a habit of reading. It is good for us and society as well. With these, I stop my words.
Thank you.
