Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Birth, Family, and Personal Life

Dr. S.Radhakrishnan was born on 5th September 1888 in a Brahmin house in Tiruttani village of Madras (now Chennai), Tamil Nadu. His forefathers lived in a town known as Sarvepalli; henceforth, they used the name of the village as their surname as the custom in South India. The name of his father was Sarvepalli Veeraswamy and the mother was Sarvepalli Sita or Sitamma. He had four brothers and one sister.

Earlier, in our country, the marriages were happening at a very young age to the people. In 1903, he was married to Sivakamu, when he was just 16 years old and his wife was only ten years old.
