Indian States and Capitals

States and Capitals of India 2021 List: Indian states and Capitals lists are mentioned in this article. India became a democratic country on 15th August 1947, after its independence. It is a Republic nation that has the supreme power residing in the hands of the nationals. All the decisions are made by the representatives chosen by the people under a set of fundamental rules called the “Constitution”. The Constitution is the supreme law of the country and was affirmed by the Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949. It came into action on 26 January 1950. The introduction of the Indian Constitution guarantees it to be a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular and Democratic Republic with a parliamentary system of government. Currently, there are 29 states (including Jammu and Kashmir) and seven Union Territories in India.

The States Reorganization Act, formed in 1956 was a prime force in reorganizing the margins of Indian states along semantic lines. Later, as per a reformation in the Indian Constitution, three types of states, known as Part A states, Part B states, and Part C states, were changed to form a single type of state.

Part A states belong to former governors’ regions of British India. Part B states belong to former royal states and Part C states involved both the former chief commissioners provinces and some princely states. Although new changes have been introduced in the state boundaries since 1947, the Act is still regarded as an authoritative player in implementing the present shape and forms to the Indian states.

In the month of November 2000, India obtained three new states – Chattisgarh formed out of Madhya Pradesh, Uttaranchal from Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand from Bihar. In June 2014, Telangana was cut out of Andhra Pradesh and considered as individual state status. Read on the article to know more about all states and capitals of India.

  • Read each and every question carefully, twice or thrice to completely understand what has been asked.
  • See the optional questions which have been asked in some questions, choose to answer the one you are confident.
  • Attempt those questions you find easy, first and skip those questions you are finding difficult to answer, this will save you valuable time during the exam.
  • Keep some time for revision at the end and made the corrections in the answers wherever required.
  • Tips for one day before Exam:
  • Take sound sleep (at least 6-8 hours) night before the exam.
  • Avoid junk and fried food during exams, take only healthy food to keep your mind active during the exam.
  • Drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated.
  • Reach the center well in advance to avoid last-minute stress.
  • Believe in yourself and the hard work you have done throughout the year.

Don’ts in Exam

  • Do not waste time on questions you are not very sure of or those which are consuming loads of your time.
  • Answer them only when you are done with all that you know.
  • Do not forget to carry your stationery, a watch and all the documents required.
  • Do not waste time on a very long cumbersome numerical question, in case you don’t know.
  • Do not make guesses on how much marks you might get while taking the exam, concentrate only on the question paper and answer them systematically.
  • Don’t get distracted by any external factor.

After the Exam

Do not conduct a dissection of the exam by predicting how many marks you might score, trying to figure out the correct answers from an unreliable source. Because that will only dishearten and disturb you. In the end, remember, if you have prepared well, gave your 100%, there is no one to stop you from achieving what you deserve.
